Often women seeking treatment for fertility issues are those that have already been receiving help with menstrual irregularities. It is generally accepted in East Asian medicine, that bringing a woman’s cycle back in to balance is the best position for overall health, and therefore increases the chance of conception.  There are times however where the cycle may be regular, and yet trying to conceive remains problematic. 

Usually, it’s now that couples will look towards further medical enquiry for answers, being referred to a fertility specialist, and both parties will be asked to undergo testing to establish a possible cause to their fertility issues. There are a wide number of reasons that may present, which at times may involve a genetic complication. 

Whatever may present from the diagnostic process, Acupuncture and lifestyle changes may be of benefit, and treatment can be safety received alongside your primary health care approach. Research has indicated that Acupuncture can assist in normalising the function of the (HPO) Hypothalamic – Pituitary – Ovarian axis, which is essential for the regulation of reproductive hormones.  

During your initial Acupuncture consultation, we review all relevant medical results to thoroughly understand the presenting imbalances, both from a Western and East Asian perspective, and your Acupuncture treatment is tailored to your specific needs and clinical presentation. Some basic lifestyle and supplement advice may also be suggested. 

Treatment frequency: Will be dependent on diagnostic outcomes and the correction that’s needed to be made. It’s generally accepted that weekly or bi weekly sessions are the best approach, and treatment will be tailored to the particular phase of the menstrual and or IVF cycle.
